Major Tournament Qualifications

MAJOR TOURNAMENT QUALIFICATIONS
ALL TEMECULA VALLEY WGC MAJOR TOURNAMENTS WILL BE PLAYED UNDER USGA RULES OF GOLF.  LOCAL RULES MAY BE ESTABLISHED INSOFAR AS THEY ARE NOT IN CONFLICT WITH USGA RULES OF GOLF.

1.  The Vice President shall run all major tournaments.  The Vice President will provide information to the Tournament Chair as necessary.

2.  All members participating in major tournaments must have an established handicap and have competed in at least six (6) weekly games, which may include team play, during the previous six (6) months.  If there are unusual or extenuating circumstances concerning a member's qualification to participate, said member may submit a request for waiver in writing to the Vice President.  The request must include circumstances justifying the waiver and be made in sufficient time for the Vice President to obtain approval from the Executive Board.
3.  Participants' scores in a major tournament will be included in hole-in-one, chip-ins, sandys, birdies, closest to the pin and ringer.

4.  Members not able to participate in the major tournaments may follow the field if tee times are available and/or space permits.  Players not participating in the major tournament must keep separate score cards for handicap and ringer.

5.  The Rules Chair, in conjunction with the Vice President, will be responsible for deeming whether preferred lies will be used during major tournaments.
6.  Postponement or cancellation of play due to weather or other circumstances will be at the discretion of the Vice President.

7.  The Vice President will be responsible for decisions concerning refunds.  Twenty-four (24) hour notification prior to tee time and acceptable extenuating circumstances are required for any refund.

8.  Participants are responsible for posting their own scores as Tournament scores.  The Handicap Chair will ensure that all scores are posted as Tournament scores.

9.  A player may only win one prize in each major tournament, i.e. she may not win overall as well as within her flight.

10. All entry fees and Women's Club sponsored money should be used for the tournament for which it was specified.  A minimum of one-third of the field will be paid.

11. All tournament awards will be recommended by the Vice President and approved by the Board of Directors.

12. At the conclusion of each tournament, copies of the final standings and awards will be given to the President, Treasurer and Tournament Chair.  One copy will be posted.

13. A minimum of two (2) major tournaments shall be played each year as follows:

A.  CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (STROKE PLAY - GROSS)
  • Three (3) day tournament to be conducted on three consecutive Tuesdays or on days determined by the Vice President.
  • Low gross winner OVER THE FIELD will be the Club Champion, 2nd low gross will be runner-up.
  • In the event of a tie for Club Champion, there will be a sudden death play-off starting from Hole #1.  Two referees appointed by the Vice President will accompany the players.
  • Championship awards will be awarded to the Club Champion and Runner-up.
  • Senior Division is open to any member meeting the minimum age of 60 at the start of the tournament.
  • Remaining players will be divided into flights paying equal gross.
  • Post as a Tournament (T).
B.  SUMMER CLASSIC (INDIVIDUAL TWO (2) DAY TOURNAMENT)
  • Two (2) day tournament (36 holes) to be conducted on consecutive Tuesdays or on days determined by the Vice President.  Format to be decided on a yearly basis.
  • Post as a Tournament (T).
C.  BETTER BALL OF PARTNER'S (STROKE PLAY - LOW GROSS & LOW NET CHAMPIONSHIP)
  • Two (2) days tournament to be conducted on consecutive Tuesdays or on days determined by the Vice President.
  • Players choose their own partner with a 10 stroke index/handicap differential.  A higher handicapped player may choose to reduce her index (play down) to meet the 10 stroke limit.
  • The cumulative two days' scores will be used to determine the low gross and low net winners.  Low Gross and Low Net winners OVER THE FIELD will be the Champions.
  • Size of field will determine whether payoffs will be on a flighted basis.  Awards will be given to 1/3 of the field in gross and net.
  • Post as a  Tournament (T).
