HISTORY OF TEE-2-GREEN GOLF CLUB

T2GGC started in the mid 1990's with a small group of local golf enthusiasts.  With a group of regular players that were members of the Chester Washington Men's Club we decided to form our own club and establish our own club indexes.  This was the result of asking the President, Chuck Loud to be in the first group of the tournament each time we played.    Of course, most pairings wanted to be in the first group.

After a late afternoon of drinking in the the dining room of Donald Beatty's house with Dave Sydney, Billy Bragg, Ferris Trimble and Tony Bacon present, the idea was discussed of what the name for the club should be.  Donald, Dave, Billy and Ferris decided on the name Tee2Green.  Tony left before the decision was made.  At the birth of the club, there were approximately 12 members.  Since the original members all cussed, fussed, drank and gambled, the original motto of the club became, "cussing, fussing, drinking and gambling is allowed and encouraged!".

Ferris contacted the Public Links Golf Association (PLGA) to get the ball rolling on legitimzing the club.  He also became the first Procurement Officer coordinating the purchase of the first vests and caps with the Tee2Green logo.  The original uniform was a red vest with tan pants.  The first caps had the title Tee 2 Green "Glof Club" inscribed on them!

Donal Beatty became the first president of Tee2Green and was referred to as "President for Life".  After a number of years passed, Billy Bragg became the second President of Tee2Green.  He was President for a number of years until his health began to fail.  After Billy's death and in honor of his tenure as president and one of the founding members, the "Player Of The Year" trophy was named in his honor.  The third president of the club was Tony Bacon.

Through  club member consensus, written by-laws were developed and currently direct the club, with periodic revisions.  Interestingly, the original " unwritten by-laws" had a minimum age limit of 50, which was eventually eliminated to bring in more members to the club.

Wayne Bragg became Treasurer and established a bank account in the club's name to collect annual club dues and tournament fees.  Wayne continues in that capacity today.  The original ststistician was Garvin Onaba.  Garvin also started the format we use for the "skins game", which is still in use today.

Herman Debose was the winner of the first Tee2Green tournament at the Chester Washington Golf Course.

While membership has fluctuated over the years with members moving out of town, etc., three members have passed in the last 20+ years, William "Billy" Bragg, Charles "Chuck" Thorton and David Snyder.  Another original member, Donald Beatty, has been limited by mobility issues.
